Portland Secondary College welcomes enrolments at all year levels at any time during the school year.
The College welcomes students with diverse racial, ethnic and religious backgrounds and prides itself on teaching students to respect and celebrate differences.
The College extensively assists funded students who require Disability and Impairment support as well as providing additional Literacy and Numeracy to all students who require a little extra assistance. Extension and Enhancement and co-curricula activities are offered at all levels and the college also supports a number of Koorie enrolments.
Year 7 enrolments are co-ordinated with local primary schools during the students’ final year at primary school. Alternatively enrollments for Year 7 from outside the feeder school area or at any other year level can be discussed with the appropriate Year Level Leader.
To make a time to discuss your child’s potential enrolment at Portland Secondary College phone the General Office on 03 55231344 who will put you in touch with the Year Level Leader, or you can send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Enrolment forms will be issued after a meeting has been held with the relevant Level Leader.
Eligible children and young persons have the right to be admitted to their designated neighbourhood government school, regardless of capacity.
A student’s designated neighbourhood school is generally the school that is nearest the student’s permanent address as determined by the school zone. The Find My School website provides guidance on which school zone a student’s permanent residence is located within.
Students are also able to apply for a place at a school that is not their designated neighbourhood school if there is sufficient accommodation.
Information regarding Parent Payments is located under the Policies tab in the Parent Payments Policy.
Enrolment at Portland Secondary College’s Re-Engagement Campus is governed by the same guidelines as enrolment at the main campus.
The Portland Re-Engagement Program is a satellite campus of Portland Secondary College and caters specifically for students who have disengaged or are at risk of doing so from mainstream education.
Students who are interested in enrolling at the RE Campus must first be enrolled with PSC and make contact with the relevant Sub-School Assistant Principal, who will make a referral directly through to the RE Campus Leader who will then complete a Flexible Learning Option application to the local Regional Office for approval.
Only after this Flexible Learning Option referral has been granted will a student be able to begin at the Re-Engagement Campus.
